Modesto Christian School was founded in 1962 by Pastor Roy Blakeley of Neighborhood Church and was one of thirty charter member schools of the Association of Christian Schools International. Pastor Blakeley's vision was to have a school that would assist and support parents in their responsibility for teaching, training and preparing their children for life. This could be accomplished through an excellent, Christ-centered education in which God and His Word serve as the foundation for all learning and living.
The Preschool, Elementary School, Middle School and High School make up the educational program at Modesto Christian School. MCS functions as a traditional school within a non-denominational evangelical Christian environment.
In 2016, Modesto Christian School was purchased from Neighborhood Church and is now under the ownership of Modesto Christian School Incorporated (MCS, Inc.). MCS Inc. purchased 32 of the original 55-acre campus and built a new elementary campus on the 32-acre campus. The middle school is housed on the same campus as the high school.

Our Philosophy of Christian Education
The educational philosophy of Modesto Christian School is based on a God-centered view of truth and man as presented in the Bible. Since God created and sustains all things through His Son, Jesus Christ, the universe and all life are dynamically related to God and have the purpose of glorifying Him. This is pointedly true of man who was made in God’s image, different in kind from all other creation, with the unique capacity to know and respond to God personally and voluntarily.
Man is made in God's image and likeness. God's image is the essence of man's being, the core of the human soul. Unfortunately, man has chosen to live apart from God and has become a slave to untruthfulness. When man loses the wisdom of God within, he lives out of ignorance and self-deception. God in His love for man, sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to show man the face of God and the true face of the human soul. Jesus Christ came to defeat man's greatest enemy, death, so that man may have life and have it abundantly. Jesus also came to show man his true nature and in doing so, lead man back to God the Father, the Creator and sustainer of life.
Because man is a sinner by nature and choice, however, he cannot, in this condition, know or honor God in his life. He can do this only by being born again through receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and making Him Lord. Being born again is a gift of grace so that man may know the only true God and Jesus Christ whom He sent. This will enable man to do God’s will, which is the ultimate purpose of his life.
The entire process of Christian education is seen as a means used by the Holy Spirit to bring students into fellowship with God, to develop a Christian mindset and to train them in godly living, so they can fulfill God’s total purpose in life personally and vocationally. Godly living finds God at the heart of all life and sees the whole of life as sacred. God's ultimate desire for man is "Christ in you, the hope of glory."
