Modesto Christian School welcomes International Students from around the world. Since 1999, Modesto Christian School has provided a College Preparatory Education for International Students. For over twenty years, International Students have attended Modesto Christian School from Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, England, France, Georgia, Germany, Holland, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Philippines, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan, Congo DRC and Vietnam. We accept applications for students entering grades 7-11. Modesto Christian offers a limited number of I-20's each year and are open to spring term applicants based on the previous fall enrollment status. Most International Students entering the 9th grade complete their secondary compulsory education at Modesto Christian High School.
One of the unique features of Modesto Christian's International Student Program is our Homestay Program. Instead of a dorm setting, we believe international students living with American families provides a much better environment conducive for learning and a more focused social and emotional support for thriving as a student at Modesto Christian School. Host families are chosen after background and reference checks, and personal interviews. How many international students attend Modesto Christian School? International students at Modesto Christian School make up between 7% and 12% of our student body at any given time. What grade does Modesto Christian School accept international students? Modesto Christian School accepts 7-11 graders. We are open to spring term applicants depending on the previous fall enrollment status. What AP courses and Honor courses do you offer? AP Courses: Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Human Geography, Art History, US History, US Government, Spanish, Studio Art, English Language*, English Literature*. Honor Courses: Advanced Foundations of English, Advanced World Literature, Advanced American Literature, Advanced British Literature, British Mythopoeia, Anatomy & Physiology, Spanish IV, Art II, Art III, Theatre II. *AP English students enroll in Honors Junior and Senior English classes, which are designed to prepare them for the AP English Exams. Is there any community service required for Modesto Christian School students? Yes, each student is required to complete in at least 16 hours of community service per year. What other requirements should we know about Modesto Christian School students? Each year, each student needs to participate in a minimum of two school-sponsored activities (student clubs, athletics, or performing arts productions). What kind of support can international students receive from Modesto Christian School? Individualized academic planning with our college and career guidance counselor. In addition to individualized support from our counselor and teachers, international students also receive support and guidance from the International Program Director. Attention to Athletic international students: The California Interscholastic Federation (CIF), who oversees all high school students' sports programs, has a regulation of all high school students have Eight Consecutive Semester Rule and age restriction, as well. Modesto Christian School uses evaluation company-SpanTran (approved by CIF) to evaluate all international transfer student's' transcript.
